Web3 Frontend Engineer (React)

Role Summary

Exchequer Finance is seeking a Web3 Frontend Engineer to develop end-to-end user-facing features for our DeFi protocol: building engaging interfaces and robust Web3 interactions powering auctions, liquidity workflows, and protocol lifecycle mechanics. This role focuses on React/Vite-based frontend development and EVM/Web3 integration, working closely with backend and smart contract engineers rather than owning backend services directly.

Exchequer Finance is a US-based DeFi protocol building permissionless infrastructure that enables projects to achieve sustainable DEX liquidity through structured principal-protection primitives and bond-like lifecycle mechanics. These are implemented as smart contracts and supporting services that maintain protocol state. Work closely with the founders to ship core systems that reduce reliance on extractive intermediaries and centralized market makers.

Our Stack

• Front-end: React 18, Vite, Apollo Client, wagmi, viem, RainbowKit, Tailwind CSS
• Web3: wagmi, viem, wallet connectors (e.g. RainbowKit), EVM-compatible networks
• Backend & Infra (handled by the wider team): Python, FastAPI, web3.py, PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, Google Cloud, Docker, GitHub Actions

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain user-centric interfaces with React, wagmi, viem, and Apollo Client.
• Implement wallet connectivity, contract reads/writes, and transaction flows across EVM chains, handling signatures and chain/network changes gracefully.
• Integrate smart contract interactions into the frontend and synchronize on-chain/off-chain data for a consistent user experience.
• Collaborate with backend and smart contract engineers to define API contracts, data models, and feature boundaries.
• Implement efficient client-side state management and data fetching to power analytics and real-time features.
• Maintain code quality through unit/integration tests, code reviews, and modern frontend best practices.

Requirements

• BS or equivalent degree in computer science or a similar discipline.
• 5+ years building production front-end (or full-stack) systems, with recent work in React.
• Proven skills in designing responsive SPAs with React and integrating with backend APIs and state management solutions.
• Strong Web3/EVM experience: wallet connect, contract calls (read/write), events, and syncing on-chain/off-chain data.
• Experience with common Web3 tooling and libraries (wagmi, viem, ethers.js or similar, wallet connectors).
• Comfortable collaborating with backend, infra, and smart contract engineers without directly owning backend implementation.
• Proficient with Docker, modern CI/CD, and remote collaboration tools.
• Strong Linux fundamentals, networking (HTTP/TLS), observability, and performance profiling with a focus on frontend.
• Time zone must have a significant overlap with Eastern Time (New York City).

Nice to Have

• GraphQL/Apollo Client experience and schema-driven frontend development.
• Experience with streaming data, indexers, or blockchain analytics as frontend data sources.
• Exposure to infrastructure automation and container orchestration.
• Prior work on DeFi products such as DEXs, liquidity provisioning, auctions, structured products, or fixed-income-like instruments.
